The Secret to Life… the Life You Want and Deserve… is Inspired Actions
If you heard me say that inspired actions and focus lead to powerful results, would you believe me? I want you to think about how you feel about your life and the work you do. Is it a joyous experience, or are there times when you feel like you’d prefer to create a brand new life for yourself?
In my case, I made the conscious decision in 2005 to spend a year preparing to resign from my job as a classroom teacher and working part-time in real estate as a broker and residential appraiser, in favor of having an online business.
In the beginning, I felt excited, confused, and alone. I questioned every move I made, and this just led to stagnation so I wouldn’t make the wrong moves. Then I connected with people online who extended their hands to me virtually and that made me feel like I was a part of a like-minded community that could help me to change my life forever.
How do you feel as you go through the tasks and activities necessary to create the live you are dreaming of? Do you honestly believe that you deserve to have a new and improved life experience? Lean in, and I’ll share a secret with you that took me until the age of 50 to discover, and then finally believe…
Remaining focused on your dreams and goals, and then taking inspired actions is the secret. You’ll notice that I used the phrase inspired actions here.
I honestly believe that if you are not inspired by life, you have little chance to succeed in any area. I find inspiration everywhere: People, books, music, plants, animals, the solar system, and so much more. This inspiration leads to great joy in my thinking, feeling, and overall life experience. Then, I am able to decide what it is I wish to achieve, take inspired actions and focus on my goal, and things I once thought impossible become not only possible but will magically appear in a synchronistic way in my life!
Inspired Actions and Focus Go Hand in Hand
What good is having focus if you don’t take any action? Conversely, if you take action without a focus, how will you know you are doing the right things? As you can probably surmise, focus and action go hand in hand. But more than that… inspired actions and focus make all the difference in your results.
The concepts reinforce each other. Suppose you decide that you need to increase sales in your business, or whatever your goal happens to be. You plan out the steps and use that to set your focus. Then, when you execute the plan by taking action that is inspired, you will learn that your focus was correct. Or, you will learn that it did not work out for some reason and that you’ll need to consider alternate plans.
The last sentence of the previous paragraph is important. Not everything you plan will work out and you need to keep that in mind. If you find something isn’t working out, and you don’t believe it is going to get any better, don’t hesitate to find something else. Otherwise, the focus-action loop will get stale, and you will get frustrated. This is a negative reinforcement that will only serve to help you fail.
Failure is part of the process. Your actions should be iterative along with measures of what is happening. It can’t hurt to have alternative plans defined at the beginning of the cycle if that is possible. If not, just determine those alternatives when they make sense.
When you continue in this manner, you will find your focus is more intense. This is because you believe the actions you take will lead you to the desired results and you’ll shift your focus if it doesn’t, to more inspired actions that are more aligned with your core beliefs and desires.
If you need to extend this entire concept to a team, make sure they understand that the possibility of failure exists. This will help you guide them to different paths. Of course, if a few of the team members are not doing their part, this is another path you will need to deal with. These members may not be clear on the benefits of the plan. When that happens, they will lose focus, and they won’t be able to take action. Or, the actions they do take will not coincide with what the team is trying to deliver.
When you approach your goals in this way, you will likely excel at your job or business, and most certainly in your personal life and relationships. You will have a renewed sense of purpose, and this will bring the your life experience to new heights.
Your Starting Point with Inspired Actions is Knowing What You Want
When it comes to choosing a theme for upcoming year, you can start by thinking about what you want more of. If you’re not sure, consider these questions about the different areas of your life.
To really dig deep, rate yourself in each and decide where you’d like to see growth. Then ask yourself, “What do I want to create in these areas? What do I want to see more of? What do I want to see less of?”
Family and Friends
Are you happy in your relationships? Are you spending enough time with the people you love? Are you regularly speaking the love languages of those you care about? How would you rate your relationships overall?
Your Business or Career
Are you on the path toward where you want to be? Does your career align with your values? For example, if you value being home and raising little ones, then a career on the fast-track that has you constantly traveling isn’t going to be the best alignment. How would you rate your career or your business overall?
Health and Wellness
Do you wake up each morning energized and ready to go or do you feel sluggish, tired, and unmotivated? Are you making time to move your body each day and prepare nourishing meals? Have you sought out experts like a doctor or chiropractor for any health issues that you’re experiencing? How would you rate your health overall?
Spirituality and Faith
What kind of energy are you creating in your life and in your relationships? Do you feel at peace with the universe? Do you anticipate good things happening to you and for you? How are you living out the values of your spirituality in your day-to-day life? How would you rate your spirituality or faith overall?
Financial Wealth
Are you financially stable or are you living paycheck to paycheck? Do you have a monthly budget that makes you feel confident about where your money is going? Do you have a savings plan in place for things like retirement and college? How would you rate your wealth overall?
Achievement of Your Goals
What do you want to achieve? Are there goals on your achievement list that you’ve realized aren’t important or don’t belong there? What are some new achievements you’d like to add to the list? How would you rate your current level of achievements overall?
Fun
What activities do you consider fun? Are you prioritizing them? Are you regularly taking time away for fulfilling activities that energize you? How would you rank your fun experiences overall?
Ideally, you want to rank your satisfaction with these areas of your life on a scale of 1-10. There’s no right or wrong answer—if it feels like a 5 to you, then it is. If an area scores low, ask yourself why and consider what you need to change in your life.
Creating and living the life you want and deserve is so close to you that you can almost reach out and grab it! Take time each day to think about and write down what it is you honestly want as a part of your life experience, then daydream and brainstorm and mastermind with others as to how you will make all of your dreams come true… and they will.
